wood fired tub?

Thinking about making a wood fired hot tub out of cedar.
Anyone know any good plans online?
Would need a filter and immersion heater to keep water from freezing as it gets to -30 celsius in winter here.
I like the models where the heating aluminium tank is inside the tub (snorkel) but have seen that most have it outside and separate from the tub.

Trying to envision what you are asking. Wood fired and cedar conjures up the tub burning up rather quickly. I used to have to bathe in a 40 gallon tub sat on bricks with a fire under it to warm it up, because of no hot water, but that is a stretch. Clarify it a little bit.

The one I've seen was partially home/bush made. They bought a kit for the barrel and then made the heater out of scrap metal. The heater was in submerged in the water with wood fed in through a door above the water line and the smoke stack right next to it.

When I was a kit my father made a wood fired heater for our swimming pool. The heater body was an old 55 gallon drum. Steel pipes carrying the water criss crossed in the upper half of the barrel while the fire was built in the lower section.

If I could get the cedar, how would I go about making a tight seal? Do they need tongue and groove or will the swelling of the wood seal it up just like a barrel?

Just flat wood against flat wood. You'd need to cut the exact angle on the edge of the planks for the diameter tub you are making. Just like barrel making.

The angle on the boards is dependent upon the total number of boards. The basic formula is;

The number of Boards times 2, times the ANGLE equals 360

It takes a coopers apprentice years to get a barrel that doesn't leak. I can't imagine that being a DIY with out using a fiberglass liner.
