Unhappy Hunting cabin lockout

Lost key. Knob locked. Can't get in. Need to remove the locked exterior door knob from the outside so I can replace it. It is a typical residential exterior door knob.

Welcome to the forums.

The outside knob is not removable from the outside as a security feature. I can envision you drilling out the lock tumbler or breaking the knob off with a hammer to gain access to the lock.

Hopefully you have access to power.

Cut the handle off with an angle grinder.
Also cut off the handle"s face plate. This is to cut off the two bolts that hold the inner faceplate/handle to the door.
Then knock the handle into the cabin and open the door with a screwdriver etc.

Perhaps it would be easier to find a locksmith, become buddies and invite him hunting.

Hunting cabin suggests wood door and frame construction. Residential knob locks use fairly short latches. Use a pry-bar to spread the door from the frame near the latch.

Check YouTube for videos on a "bump key".

It entails cutting notches in a blank key, then using it to unlock the door while "bumping" the key with another object.

If you get the door unlocked, remove the handle and take it to your nearest locksmith to custom cut a key.
