Exposed nails on shingles - Clear silicone caulk or Asphalt based patching comp

There are several exposed nails on the shingles due to partial repair shown in the pictures.

I'm gonna seal the exposed nail heads.

Question:

Some folk say 'Clear silicone caulk', others say 'asphalt based patching compound like Henry'

Which one is the right thing to cover all those nail heads?

Thanks for any inputs.

I will stick with the question and try not to say anything about the patch job.

I would use a clear roofing cement such as Geocel Watershield or Ultima elastomeric.

WHOO!
Did you pay someone to "patch" that roof?
Not even close to being done right, done right there would be no exposed nails.

Agree with Jo. The patch needs to be redone by a real roofer.

I'd use the Henry black asphalt material. I wouldn't be too concerned about the terrible patch job as the entire roof will likely need replacement in another year or two.
