Vent Install Help

Hello everybody,
I need to install these vents on my gables as intake vents for attic ventilation ( I dont roof overhang so no soffit vents).

I kind of have any idea how to do it but wanted to ask to see what you guys thought.
My house was wrapped by this type of metal siding that has about .5" styrofoam on the inside of it. This siding was installed directly over the original tonque n groove siding.

So whats the easiest way to install these badboys?
Will I have to remove portions of siding to install correctly?Name: vent2.jpg

Those vents are designed to be installed between wall studs from the outside.

If you have access to the attic.... drill a hole from inside out or outside in. You need to be able to transpose the stud locations to the outside of the house in order to keep the vent between them.

You'll more than likely need to cut the outside siding with tin snips and a sawzall to cut thru the siding.

A picture of the outside would be helpful. http://www.doityourself.com/forum/el...-pictures.html

Im just not sure how to make it all water proof and finished looking.
Here is a picture of the exterior of house. They will be replacing the little vents.Name: exterior.jpg

#1, With no soffit vents, gable vents will be about useless.
Picture sucking on a straw with your finger over the tip of it.
#2, No way would I add that style ugly vents!
#3, Adding a location to your profile would be a huge help with questions like this.
Just making a guess, when that house was built there was no second story rooms and just an attic.
The upstairs is always a lot hotter or colder depending on the season.

Yes that is correct. Very hot in summer and cold winter. I'm using these as intake vents and turtle style vents up by the peak as exhaust vents. It's really my only option with no soffits.
I am very aware of this style of home. I have done extensive research.
I don't really care what they look like right now,I just need more ventilation. House is old just trying to make but more comfy.
I am in Oregon by the way.
