A pourable "cold patch" roof tar product for a flat tar and gravel roof

My house has a flat tar and gravel roof. I watched someone way back when repair a small leak by sweeping the gravel away from an area, pouring some liquidy tar material, letting it set briefly and then sweeping the gravel back on top. They called it "cold patch." I am looking for a similar tar product that they used to do that. When I go to the big box stores, I can't make heads or tails of which product to get "...with asphalt, without, etc." Can anyone give me some guidance? A tar material that you can pour on an area then cover back with gravel. Also, where can you get "roof gravel?" I bought some gravel once but it was so light that the wind would blow it off the roof. It must have been gardening gravel not roof gravel. Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the forums!

I don't know if it's the right material for what you propose but a roller grade foundation tar would do what you are asking.
