Downspout is coming off side of house

My downspout is pulling off the side of my house. It looks like it's sliding down as well. How do I fix this? It looks as though one of the belts has pulled of the side of the house.

Do you mean one of the aluminum straps has pulled loose? The downspout should be pop riveted to the elbow that is connected to the gutter. The straps are nailed/screwed to the framing behind the siding. Might need a longer screw or change locations. Pics might help if it's more complicated than that.

Yes it's the strap. How do I attach the strap to the spout?

Sometimes they are pop riveted to the down spout but often it's just friction. The downspout is pop riveted to the gutter/elbow and the strap just holds the downspout in place.

Strap

That strap is installed incorrectly.

The correct way is the center of the strap on the center of the downspout with the two ends wrapped around to the sides and the two ends bent at 90 degrees to lay flat on the siding. Then a screw in each end.

I'm sorry. I don't understand. Can you please elaborate? A picture would help.

I found it. Thanks. That makes much more sense.
