Best kind of pipe to use for patio drain

Hello,

I have a concrete patio that currently has a 4 inch drain running from its center to the street. It has clogged up somewhere and is no longer draining. Good news is I'm pretty sure the clog isn't under the concrete.

I'd like to dig up the portion that runs from the edge of the patio to the street and replace it. I've been doing some reading about what type of pipe is best and was wanting to get some opinions. What is currently there is the black perforated stuff. Would pvc be better? I don't need the actual pipe to drain water from the yard, just carry it away from the patio surface. I also don't want to have to dig this up again any time soon.

Thanks for your help.

I would use smooth, white PVC. Exterior drains like yours are usually run with thin wall PVC but if you have trees nearby or someone may drive over the area then I'd go with schedule 40 like is used inside homes for sewer drain lines.

Drain

Clean outs every 50 feet may prevent having to dig up in the future. I am with P.D. on using smooth sch 40.
