Maintenance before Florence hits
If you are in the path of Hurricane Florence or may suffer heavy rain due to the remnants of this tropical storm, you might take a few minutes to ensure that your gutters and downspouts are clean and that there is no debris blocking valleys.
An enormous amount of water comes off roofs and if your gutters overflow that can create even more problems.
If you have basement window wells you might consider covering them with plywood to keep heavy rain out. Sandbagging these areas or any other area that could flood from high water might be advisable. (Entry doors, garage doors, walkout basements, etc.)
Stay safe, and do not approach downed power lines, or attempt to clear branches that are touching power lines.
