Weatherizing/Waterproofing Pallet Fort

Please help!! I'm stuck on my current project!

I recently started building my son's a huge fort/playhouse a few months ago.
I'm nowhere near finished with it & noticed the wood has started to mildew/mold from all the rain we've been having. I don't want it to ruin all of my hard work, or keep going until I do something about it.
Here is where I'm stuck. I want to paint or stain it, haven't decided which one I want to go with yet, but do I seal it first, before painting/staining, or do I do that after?
Does anyone know what product is best for that? It's mostly built out of pallets, I did the flooring in finished plywood with pallet boards as braces underneath the plywood.
I'd appreciate any help, because I really want to get this finished before snow comes which I'm sure that will come early this year since we haven't had much of a Summer. Lol.

Welcome to the forums!

You can spray/brush on a bleach solution to remove the mildew, rinse well.
Sounds like you'd want to use a latex siding stain, unlike paint it won't need a primer. The stain will seal the wood.
