French drain [or alternative] for standing water in yard

Hey all- I hope this is the right thread to post this question.

There is a standing water problem in a yard of a house I'd like to buy. I'm thinking a French drain is the best option, however, I have no place to actually drain the water. My whole yard is slightly bowl shaped which is a real pain.

What do you all suggest? Maybe a French drain 'leach field' setup? Re-grade the lawn? Check out the picture of the area in question. Thanks.

It looks low, need to get the grade correct which should fix the problem~

I agree. If you have a low spot collecting water you first need to regrade so the water runs off. It is also probably the easiest and least expensive option. A French drain will have to have pipe installed and pitched to carry the water away to an area that is not saturated.

Are you sure there isn't a clogged culvert to drain the water under the street and over to that treed area on the other side, which appears to be lower still ?

Unrelated; but it would appear that the electric utility has an easement right through the middle of this lot . . . . and they too might like to be rid of the standing water.

Thanks Pilot- the yard is really pitched so I'll re-grade as the first option
