Water protect for balcony. A gutter needed?
Hi everyone,
I meet an issue about my balcony. Since there is no cover for my balcony. When it is rainy, water just drop down from one corner of my balcony which already damage the wood of my balcony. As you can see from the picture, what should I do to protect that part? Do I need a gutter for my balcony?
Thanks.

I don't think a gutter will help since I bet water is getting to that beam from the top and other side as well. First I would scrape and paint to protect the wood. While doing that I would also inspect that area for rot.
A picture from further back showing the whole porch area would be helpful to see if anything can be done to keep water away. With the vinyl siding there I'm not sure there is an easy way.

Hi Dane,
i checked the the bottom part. There is about 1 cm * 1 cm square is soft that i can feel. I think I need to call an inspector to check. Just wondering: do I need to replace the whole balcony? Or just fixing?
thanks,
fisher

We can't tell from that picture.
I'm assuming you can walk on top of that balcony ? If yes.... post a picture of up there.
As Dane mentioned.... a picture down below from a wider angle would be helpful.
The water can be coming down behind the siding or if you notice puddles on top of the balcony.... it could be leaking thru there.
