Waterproofing short foundation wall

I'm adding an extension to my home, it's on the south side of the home in downstate New York. The construction calls for more beefy floor joists than my current home. Current house has about 16 inches of foundation above grade. In order to match up the floors, which is important to me, the extension will drop about 6 inches from the existing foundation, so about 10 inches above grade. Is there anything I can do proactively to add some additional waterproof protections going a little bit higher than the foundation top/ sill plate?

Hard To Locate Roof Leak!!!

We have an old barrel tile roof. I know it needs to be replaced. In the mean time I am having the most difficult time locating where the water is coming in from. I've already sealed every tile above the bedroom where it is leaking(I thought) with roof cement and painted them with waterproof roof coating. Still leaking when it rains hard. My Question- Is it possible the water is getting BEHIND the Gutter and flowing over the Soffit into the bedroom and onto the ceiling through the crack and then dripping on the floor? I attached 2 pics to show the valley and what I think is the problem area. I would have to crawl in the attic on my belly and wait for a hard rain to locate the Leak if possible. exterior caulk advice and recommendations

Hi folks, I'm looking for some advice on exterior caulk for a Florida home, including recommended brands and type (latex vs silicone vs ???). I'd like to use a caulk which is long-lasting and also easy to remove for when it's time to re-caulk. Somebody I know recommended that I use silicone, but I've heard it's extremely difficult to completely remove silicone when it's time to re-caulk. Also, is latex caulk the same thing as acrylic? [color=#000000]I'm caulking a relatively small wooden roof-like structure which is positioned above a side entrance door. I believe this structure is called an "eyebrow" in the building profession. [/color]It is already painted using white paint, but I'm curious if it would have been better to caulk first and then paint. I'm not a very experienced DIYer, but I have done indoor caulking (bathtubs). Thanks for your help. Read More
