New Copper Roof
Hello,
I just had the copper roof replaced over a bay window on my house. I really like the shininess, and I know copper turns color. Are you aware of a product I can apply to preserve the shiny appearance?
Thank you in advance.

There are various coatings that can be applied (usually meant for small items) but I suppose you could apply a clear coat and renew it every year or so. But the Petina that copper gives off during oxidation is usually considered attractive and wanted. I also believe, but I'm not sure, the Petina oxidation actually protects the copper from corrosion. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Permalac, and other products that are exterior lacquers may be applied over copper. I don't know much about them, as most people prefer the natural "patina".

Not something I would recommend.
You are basically clear coating the copper. This will eventually start to peel etc. and will be a nightmare to remove and get it back to just the copper and then you will have to start over.

I have purposely coated a film of lemon juice on newly installed copper gutters, downspouts and collector boxes to help tone down the shine and get the patina started which actually takes years to acquire. Shiny copper just stands out way too much in my opinion. Patina on aged copper adds just the right amount of elegance to its look.
