What does "Purchase Price: $5.40 / Linear Ft." mean when buying carpet?
I found an interior/exterior carpet listing at Lowe's online that that says "Purchase Price: $5.40 / Linear Ft." and I don't know what that means, especially since it also says 0.45 per square foot, which I do understand. I mean I get square feet for trying to buy carpet. I do not get linear feet when trying to buy carpet.

Well, the roll is 12' long. One linear foot of it would be 12 sq ft @ .45 per sq ft. Or 5.40 for each linear foot. Pull out that roll 10' and now you have a piece that is 10x12. 120 sq ft @ .45 per sq ft is the same thing as 10 x 5.40 @ 5.40 per lin ft.
And installation is not included. That's the price for just the carpet.

Linear foot is 12 inches long. Cutting off 10 linear feet of a 12 foot wide carpet will give you a 10ft by 12ft piece. Cut 15 ft and you have cut 15 linear feet and will have a 15 ft X 12 ft piece, etc. Multiply both figures to get the square footage.

Thanks to all.
That's so easy. I just kept thinking the length of the roll and not the width of the roll, but good to have it all confirmed-like and agreed upon.
Thanks again.
