Cleaning Up Concentrated Spill From Carpet

I had the unfortunate experience of a spill of liquid laundry detergent thoroughly saturating a small area (about 4 x 4 inches) of (wall to wal)l carpet. I am asking advice on the best way to clean this up, specifically diluting and extracting it all as opposed to just sopping up the surface liquid and letting the rest dry up.

Get a carpet cleaning machine and using straight water just soak and remove until it quits sudsing up!

Carpet repair or buy new carpet?

Long story short, 2 years ago when I first got a new puppy, he chewed a portion of my carpet (roughly about 6 in x 1 foot). I'm getting ready to sell the house and move, however, I need to address this carpet issue prior to listing the house for sale. I went to home depot to see if any carpet matches so I can just replace the whole carpet in the living room, however, if I did that, the carpet wouldn't match the color or texture in all of the other bedrooms and closets. The guy at home depot said the hole doesn't seem too big to repair the living room carpet with the carpet from my closet. He mentioned it might be my best bet to purchase new carpet for the closet that closely matches the original, and use that closet carpet to repair the hole in the living room. This way, everything matches and the only thing that looks slightly off is the new closet closet which is isolated from everything anyway. Would it be best to try that? Or any recommendations? I have attached a few pictures with a sample of the chewed carpet to the closet and the chewed carpet next to the current living room carpet. Opinions wanted, thanks!Read More

New carpet install - question about top riser with different carpet in room.

I just had new carpet installed - I do love it. But I have an issue that I want some opinions on before I go back to the company. I planned for a patterned carpet on the stairs, and a matching color non-patterned carpet in the room above. We discussed how to handle the transition and I was expecting the edge/nose to be the same as the room of course, but the riser should have matched the lower ones. I am attached pics so you can see what I mean. Is it not realistic to want that upper riser the same? Is there something that would prevent that, or make it less desirable, to do that??
