Removing bacon grease from rug

I recently and mistakenly dripped some bacon grease on a shag carpet. Can someone tell me how to remove the stain? Thanks. Rich

Remove as much of the dried grease as you can by manually scraping it up. After that, apply mineral spirits to a rag and blot the area. If there's enough grease, you may go through several rags.

Naphtha is almost the same as paint thinner... but Naphtha would be a more pure solvent. It's also what energize used to be made of... Energine was an excellent cleaning fluid for fabrics.

You could also let the dog lick it for 10 minutes or so. LOL

The mineral spirits will leave a slight oily film behind.
The Naptha would further remove that and any difficult remaining grease.

Remember Carbona. (contained carbon tet.) Worked great but is no longer around.
