Basement carpet
I’ve built a music room in basement of my house. Want to carpet floor to help with acoustics.
Any suggestions for “backing “ or other ideas in case of dampness?
Thanks in advance!

If there is any danger of the floor getting wet you do not want carpet. I'd tape a piece of plastic over a few sq ft of concrete to see if moisture develops under it before deciding on carpet.

The only recoemdation is a basement/concrete padding, it's just a bit more durable due to the hard surface.

I've been a Realtor for many years, seen lots of basements.
The best basement redo I've seen was:
A basement that started with wall to wall green-outdoor-astroturf; the new owner flipped the old astroturf over, painted the back side light tan, then used it as padding for several large outdoor rugs with nice patterns.
If the basement got damp or had minor water, was much easier to take the rugs out through the bilco doors and dry them outside, and fold back the astroturf and run a blower.
