Best Carpeting for Basement

Hello,

Iíve been shopping for carpeting for my basement. After visiting several stores I liked a wool blend (80% wool and 20% poly silk). However Iíve read some articles that wool is not a great choice for basements because it absorbs moisture.

My basement doesnít flood, but it does get humid. I run a dehumidifier at all times during warm weather.

Would you suggest that I choose a different fiber? My second choice was a nylon.

Thank you in advance.

The carpet really doesn't matter but hey make special pads that are used in basements, you want to look into that!

I would go with a nylon or polyester. As you said, moisture it tough on wool.

If the moisture is coming up through the floor then I would not be putting carpeting on it.

There is always Kangaback carpet, it resists moisture and is easy to DIY.
