Stained floors

I just resfinished my hardwood oak floors it came out good for the most part but in one section of the floor there is a big blotchy spot in not sure where I went wrong this was my first time doing this any one have any advice on what to do to fix this

Could be uneven sanding and the dark area was rougher.

That's what I was thinking.. you think the only way to fix it is by resanding and doing it all over??

I would take 5 minutes and try sanding a small area down with a palm sander and restain it to see if it helps. If some areas were drum sanded with 60 grit, for example and other areas were fine sanded to 120, the 60 grit areas would turn out much darker.

I'd try sanding those areas first with an orbital sander with 120 or slightly finer sandpaper. Sometimes a light sanding is enough to get it to blend. If a light sanding doesn't even it out, then sand deeper and restain.
