Polyurethane
i have eastern pine floors have finished them and put 3 lite coats of polyurethane down. i was putting more on them and ran out half way though the 2nd coat. in been to long so i have to sand and put more poly down do i need to put just one r do i need 2 more on them. can i over sand floors with poly already on them thanks

You should always lightly sand between coats with 220 grit,no matter what. Then wipe the dust off with a tack cloth. Sanding removes any impurities in the finish rather than impregnating them under the next coat. The result will be a smoother, clearer finish that won't snag your socks.

Sanding also promotes better adhesion between coats, something as X pointed out should always be done between coats. Depending on where you ran out you may need to recoat everything to get it to look nice.
