Solid 3/4" hardwood on uneven floors
I installed laminate flooring in our home a couple years ago. I did not level the floors before doing so. As the installation progressed i could see how uneven the floors were. Now, a couple years later, I can feel the laminate deflect under my weight in certain areas.
I really regret installing this stuff and I am considering installing solid 3/4" oak and finishing in place. Is solid 3/4" oak more forgiving with uneven floors?

How specifically is your subfloor uneven?
3/4" thick flooring can be more forgiving of minor imperfections in the sub floor because it has some strength and can bridge small low areas. If your subfloor has anything more than small high or low spots those too can telegraph through in the finished floor. It all depends on what exactly you mean by "uneven floor".

In at least on of the cases I have a high floor joist or beam. I believe it is a beam as it is under a load bearing wall. Just adjacent to that area seems to be the worst. Probably a 1/4" dip over 16".

Doesnt matter what material you use you need to level the floors. Flooring material is not intended to be self supporting so "bridging low spots" is not an acceptable condition.
