Installing engineered flooring over plank
I’ve torn out my previous carpet and linoleum floors and the particle board subfloor. I found that particle board was stapled to 2x8 T&G planks. These planks are attached to 4x8 beams spaced 4’on center.
i have layed down underlayment on top of the 2x8 planks and put 23/32 T&G plywood on top.
Question-
-What screw placement should be used since I have no “joists”? I have 2 1/2” x9 Deck Mate screws for this job.
The finish floor going down will be 5/8” engineered wood.

I would use screws 8" on center... 12" would be bare minimum... the screw only needs to be 2" long... long enough to go into the original subfloor 1". Do not screw to the joists. If the original subfloor had squeeks that should have been fixed first.

Checked how flat the floor is yet, it should have been checked before the plywood?
The old planks should have been screwed down before the plywood went in.
The recommend spacing is 4" on the edges, 6 to 8" in the field.
I never would have suggested using screws for this job for many reasons.
Way to slow, expensive, it will leave raised area where the wood gets compressed.
8D ring shanked nails or a narrow crown staple gun is what I use.
