Replace Toilet Supply Pipe Escutcheon

I am installing a new toilet and would like to also replace the rusty supply pipe escutcheon. What would be a good repair that will look decent and reduce labor if possible: 1) replace with a two piece escutcheon (I have heavy tin snips for removal of old escutcheon) , 2) remove the shut-off valve be and replace with a single piece, 3) remove old escutcheon and cut the single piece and bend to fit the new one.

Any other info appreciated for this job is welcome.

How much work do you want to do? They sell the 2 piece escutcheon plate because it means a lot less work.

Personally I use the standard escutcheons by removing the shutoff, slipping on the new escutcheon, then put on a new compression shutoff. Hold it all back tight to the wall as you tighten the compression ring down. If the shutoff won't go back far enough to hold the escutcheon tight to the wall, then the stub is probably just a little too long. Measure how much farther it needs to go back, cut the stub a little shorter, and you're in business.

Those valves only last so long and then they tend to get stuck, plating comes off and leak at the stem.
Far better to just replace the valve with a new 1/4 turn valve and escutchen at the same time.
