Low flow through shower and bath faucet

Name: compression stem valve1.jpg

Hello,
I am trying to identify a compression valve for an old St Louis bathroom faucet (see attachment <hopefully>). I can't match it with anything at Lowes etc. The specific problem is low flow hot and cold. Pressure is adequate and I have descaled the supply pipes. Thanks.

I'm guessing that the disc (washer) on that stem is way, way too big. I would look for a kit with assorted "faucet washers" and use the smallest beveled disc that reliably closes the valve.

The existing washer is the correct one, the picture may look like it has a huge washer, but that is the metal stem end that has blackened with age.

You need to try a plumbing supplier or someone other than Lowes. Lowes generally only deals with one vendor for items like that and it's probably the vendor that offers Lowes the best margin... not the best selection of replacement valves. We have a small locally owned building suppler in my town that has a much better supply of faucet parts than the big home centers.
