Squealing pig shower

Hi folks,

Any suggestions here would be great. We have a shower that squeals like a pig and makes high pitch sounds when you use it. It almost always happens when you start the shower, and then comes and goes as you take your shower. I tried running it for a few minutes on just the bathtub faucet and messing with the water strength before diverting to the shower head, but that didn't work.

Any thoughts?

Can you tell if the sound is coming from the shower head or the valve area?

Clogged shower head causing back pressure.
Water pressure to high, simple to check.

Hi folks,

Thanks for the replies. I will find out if the sound seems to be coming from the shower head or the valves. It definitely could be clogged too since it's about 4 or 5 years old and we have very hard water.

Stay tuned!

There is a flow restrictor in most shower heads and a balancing valve/cartridge in the valve body. Both can make noise under some cercumstances.
