Replacing just the tub faucet and handle, not the valve
The chrome on our 20+ year old faucet is etched, looks like water spots but at some point something must have etched them in. The faucet uses a set screw to hold it on to 1/2" copper pipe, there is an o-ring inside to seal it. I have had it off a few times. The plate and knob for the water control are no winners either, so we decided to just replace them. Well be got our purchase home and unboxed and we were like "oh, that's why it cost so much", has the valve and everything and we aren't really looking to do that, and can't make the faucet work because it is threaded inside and must go on to the end of threaded iron pipe? We couldn't use the handle either without getting a plumber in to work some magic, probably from underneath?
So are there just handle and faucet sets out there to freshen up the look, that will work with older control valves and faucets that attach to the copper pipe? I can post some pics if this is really an oddball thing. I am going to do the shower head and pipe as well, that I don't think will be a challenge.

I guess I have it figured out, I need a trim kit. I have Moen products, the Posi-Temp valve. It must be a more current style as the screws are at 2 o'clock and 7 o'clock. I assume any Moen trim kit will work as long as it is for this valve. I also ordered a Smart Spout by Sioux Chief, looks pretty slick.
