tub drainer/stopper detached from top lever
The house is about 55 yrs old.
The switch at the top of the (pink)tub moves back and forth, not up and down. When I pull it out, there is a curlycue at the bottom.
Is it possible to re-attach to drain?
I looked on you tube, but only found the plunger kind with a trip switch.
I haven't pulled out the drain stopper, afraid might not be able to maneuver it back in.

Not seeing what you have makes if a little more difficult to diagnose. http://www.doityourself.com/forum/el...your-post.html
But it appears the links have come undone between the actuator and the plunger. Once you unscrew the cover plate from the tub, the actuator and plunger (via links) should all pull out. You may have to fish out the plunger and its link with a coat hanger other other method.

When you go to put the plunger back in the hole, polish it up a bit with either steel wool or a rough soap sponge with a scotchbrite backing. It probably has crud build up and needs to rise and fall easliy. Glad you got it going.
