conversion of portable dishwasher to built-in

I have a maytag portable dishwasher that I want to use as an under-the- counter unit. The websites that I have viewed suggests that the drain hose and the water inlet hose need to be replaced by permanent lines. I can buy these online, but it will be expensive (CAD$115). I was hoping to get some advice on this, as to why the old hoses can not be used with some adjustments but need to be replaced. Thanks in advance!

Several years ago my sister had a portable DW and wanted to do what you are. We found it was cheaper almost to replace it than convert. Plus you have the befit of new DW.

Agreed. Conversion is not worth it. You can save the portable unit as a spare or use in the basement.
