Issues Replacing Kohler Mixer and PBU
My shower was leaking and I ordered a Kohler GP76851 MIXER & PBU SP KIT. I began the install but immediately ran into problems. I cannot get the Kohler handle to disconnect from the existing mixer and pbu. Can anyone advise on how to disconnect?
On the outside of the cover plate, there are no set screws or anything to loosen so the handle can be removed. Upon disassembly of the unit, I found one set screw.
I initially disassembled the handle without removing it from the mixer and pbu. I can reassemble it and try it again, but I am trying to figure out the simplest way to remove the handle. The removal and install of the new parts seems pretty simple, but removing the handle from the existing parts and attaching it to the new parts is perplexing to me. I greatly appreciate any advice.
Thanks!

I believe the end of the shaft barrel comes off, giving access to two set screws that attach the handle. IIRC, you twist the end of the barrel slightly CCW and then pull out on it.
