Question Shower pan: to mortar or not

Hi All,
Going to be ripping out old shower stall and installing a Dreamline DL-6153 Shower stall kit. Have had a mix of contractors say that some would use mortar mix and some say no as long its attached to the studs. All opinions welcomed.

If your referring to installing with a mortar bed the instructions show that is a requirement.

Dreamline says:

The shower base is required to be installed on a bed of mortar. If you have any other questions, please contact the DreamLine Customer Support Team at 866-731-2244 or via email at support@dreamline.com. We are available 8am to 7pm EST, Monday through Friday and Saturday from 9am to 5pm EST.
