Toilet Fill Valve clogged

I changed out the Toilet Fill Valve about 6 months ago, for my mom's house. The water filling to the tank was very slow. After I changed it, the toilet worked very well.

Today, the same symptom is coming up again where it fills very slow. Why does this need to be changed so often? Is it hard water? Can I do anything to prevent this?

Maybe a whole house sediment filter is needed...

Issues when installing a toilet and replacing toilet flange on the floor

There is a slight bent that goes up on the toilet flange as you can see in the pic if you look carefully. No cracks. Toilet flange is above the floor type. [U]Can a slight bent on toilet flange cause toilet leak?[/U] I lay down thin plastic sheets where the vinyl flooring has been removed from a previous leak, and then installed the toilet with wax ring, and then fluidmaster's universal rubber ring, and both times it leaked very slightly about 30 minutes after installing the toilet. [U] Could a slight bit uneveness created by removal of previous vinyl flooring create enough gaps that caused the leaks both times with wax ring and rubber ring?[/U] So to prevent water leak from the toilet does the floor need to be perfectly even? If that's the case I suspect I should not use linoleum flooring when I re-do the flooring in this bathroom because linoleum will sag a bit to give that cushion feeling. I think the toilet flange on the floor needs to be placed because of the bent. Is this something that can be done by an average person? Air gap required

I know the final answer will have to come from a local inspector, which I'll try to do tomorrow, but does anyone have a clue if air gaps on kitchen sinks are required by code? My old house, built the same year as this one, didn't have one (and yes, it was all original hookups). I mean, I'm pretty sure it is, but I've seen 2 posts from AZ where the state modified it to read basically either an air gap or a high loop is acceptable. I'm also not sure which cycle they were talking about since they didn't mention the version. Seems odd because each municipality/county is allowed to adopt their own code I believe, so why would what the State adopts matter? Maybe they just adopt what the State adopts out here? I know they are required in CA, statewide I believe, but we're pretty anti-anything California does, out here anyway...lol. Not like it has to be inspected or anything, but I want to try to do it right. What kind of donuts do codes inspectors like?Read More
