Delta bathroom faucet leaking

Greetings all,

I have an older Delta faucet in the bathroom. I replaced both stems, seats and springs a few weeks ago (similar to the one in the pic.).
A few days ago the hot water started dripping. I realized that a specific spot when it is shut will stop the leak; if I turn it off all the way it leaks, a hair before that would not. This would work in most cases but not always.

Today I replaced the stem....and the seats...and springs. I have plenty of old stuff - Delta OEM as well as aftermarket. I changed between them, different combination, but the leak won't stop. Now, with a different parts, I cannot even get to a point short of the end that the leak stops.

Any idea what's going on here?

Thanks in advance.

It sounds like you have debris inside the faucet. With the stem, etc, removed, slowly open the water shut off valve until water flows out the stem socket, this should flush any debris out.

Thanks Scientist.

Done that. Cleaned as much as I could. I do not see any debris inside. It just won't shut the water off completely. Sometimes is drips a lot, sometimes really slow but no matter what it won't stop the water the completely. What am I missing here?

I bought a new aftermarket stem (comes with spring and washer) and the leak stopped. I don't like the aftermarket ones, to say the least. The operation of the faucet is not as smooth as with the OEM ones, but that's the only that seemed to work. Not quite sure what the issue is with the OEM.

Thanks.

Did you get the OEM part direct from Delta? It may be for a different model. Just guessing.

Take a photo of the faucet, send it to Delta and ask which part numbers you should be using.

Hi
< Older Delta faucets had longer springs than new ones. Most kits are for newer models with shorter springs
Shorter springs = drips. Use the old springs or stretch the new ones.
