Removing grey (polybutylene?) connection from copper faucet connection

Currently replacing our bathroom faucet. Please see the photo below. How does the gray rubber pipe disconnect from the copper pipe above it. I already unscrewed the fitting that goes over it, but it looks like this piece somehow pops off? Don't want to force it though.

Thanks in advance!

It's just held on there with a gasket. Give it a little bend or tug and it will break loose.

With age and calcium build up they may stick together. Sometimes pretty hard.

Thanks. First one popped off OK with some pulling and tugging. The second one's giving me trouble, since that copper fitting is a lot older with more corrosion. Trying some WD40.

That's a supply tube and should be connected to a shut off valve. Why not just cut it and replace it with a SS supply tube?

So it turned out that the copper fittings on the new faucet were shorter, and didn't extend to the gray rubber fittings. I ended up removing the gray fittings and using a set of the braided stainless steel fittings that I happened to have. One is dripping a bit when I turn the faucet on, so may have to replace that one, but other than that it went OK.
