Slow draining tub. Screws stripped on overflow.

Our tub is slow draining and I'd like to snake it by going through the overflow but the small allen screws that hold the plate on seem to be stripped. This the plate:

The holes are underneath the plate, very hard to reach and there is not much clearance between plate and wall. I tried putting a pushing an allen wrench up there with a rubber band on the end but that didn't work. Any ideas on how I can get this plate off? Or can I snake the drain some other way?

Thanks.

Unfortunately the generic picture you posted is less than helpful.
We'd need to see a picture of your overflow.

Sorry about that. Here is the underside of the plate with the holes circled. The allen screws in those holes are holding the plate on.

Looks to be a Kohler drain based on your first picture. I would give them a call and ask what sized Allen wrench is needed. Quite possibly it is metric instead of SAE and therefore that is why you think it is stripped. Rare that you find an allen wrench nut stripped.

The Allen screw is a K1067596 - 8/32 x 3/8 in. set screw.
The key is a K1070940.

Thank you both! A quick trip to hardware store to buy a metric set did the trick. Seems pretty obvious now but didn't think of it. Thanks again.
