How do I open access panel?!?

In my new house my Americh tub w/air there is a large access panel going all the way along the side of the tub. I want to get behind it, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to open the panel. It doesn't have any visible hinge or latch, but has a gap with the wall all the way around. It looks like it is being retained by 3 ridges along the top of the panel, but there is no way I can get the panel low enough to clear these ridges and release the panel. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sometimes you push in to release.
Sometimes you slide up.

I can't see what's in that gap. Looking thru there with a flashlight may reveal the locking system.

It feels like I need to slide the whole thing up, and maybe pull the bottom out, but I can't figure any good way to get leverage to do that. I have been around the gaps with a flash light, and all I see are the there ridges (one of which is in my picture)

You may need to use a putty knife in the bottom seam to lift.

Success!

So I was able to get it off using suction cups to give me some pull along the bottom. Whoever put it in used Velcro to secure it, making it a bit more difficult without the suction.
