My toilet water is very low. I turned the hex screwdriver part on the fill valve clockwise several times and flushed the toilet. There was no change in water height. I noticed no water was coming into the refill tube and instead coming out of the fill valve cap on the back top right side. Do I need to replace the fill valve, or is there something I am missing. Thank you!
Not normal for water to come out where you show it, at least not on any fill valve I've seen. You could try removing the top cap to see if it can be repaired, but I'd probably just replace it. I usually replace the flapper at the same time since they are just a couple of bucks and the biggest part of the job is draining and cleaning the tank.
We have this shower drain stop where you step on it, it clicks down, and then the water stops. You step on it again to release it. Super fancy, but I want to take it out and put in little strainer nets to catch all the hair from my wife and daughters. The drain keeps clogging on a very regular basis and we're going through Drano like crazy.
After I unscrew the top cap and remove the O-ring, I get what's pictured below. There's a brass center piece with a slit. The diameter of the white plastic collar around the brass piece is right around 1 inch. The brass piece itself is about 3/4 in in diameter. I don't have a flathead screwdriver that wide, and my attempts with the biggest flathead I do have didn't do anything but scuff and damage the slit.
I've also tried tapping on the screwdriver with a hammer to see if that would loosen it up. It did not, but I also didn't hit it extremely hard. I didn't want to damage my piping.
Anyone familiar with these types of stops and know how I can remove it?

I just replaced a 20+ year ols disposal with an Insinkerator Evolution Esteem Plus 1HP Disposal which is amazing, so quiet I initially thought it wasn't working. The only problem is the rubber baffle is so restrictive water barely flows down the drain unless I prop it open with a spatula or something. Ironically the baffle in the old one had worn away to almost nothing. I've tried cutting straight lines on several of the folds but it's still a problem. It pops out easily enough so we'll often just remove it but if we run the disposal without it in place it'll splash straight up. Are there less restrictive designs available? I've considered the Danco "disposal genie" but I'd rather not have yet another single-function gadget in the sink.
