Help with recreating a headboard design

Hi everyone,

I'm starting to think about embarking on a new project and hope I can get some advice and answers to a few of my questions from someone with more DIY upholstery experience. Basically, I want to recreate the headboard seen in this commercial:, as I love how unique and modern-yet-70s it looks. I have upholstered a simple headboard before, so I know the basics of using plywood, then dense foam on top (and possibly also batting in this case for a softer, rounder look) before covering with fabric. However, I'm wondering if there would be any good way to get the rounded tops of each panel without creating folds behind the plywood, as this would probably make it look more like a hexagon than a smooth, rounded surface. Does anyone know of any way I could shape or stretch the fabric into this sort of shape?

As for the fabric choice, I know it's hard to tell what they used because the quality of this commercial is not great, but do you think I could get a similar look from a burnt orange microsuede?

If anyone has any other suggestions that might make this project easier or better, please let me know!

Thanks in advance.
