Porcelin backed marble
Has anyone had any experience with porcelain backed marble. 3mm of marble glued ontop of 9 mm porcelin. Im thinking of purchasing it for my floor as it is cheaper then a marble tile but concerned there might be problems with it.
I have been told it is stronger since it is backed by porcelin a stonger compound. Not much info on google about it either.
TIA

Welcome to the forums. Stronger how? The problem with marble is it scratches easily and being backed by porcelain won't affect that.

Agreed it won't make the surface any more scratch resistant.. Be nice if it did 😊
Given the marble is glued to the porcelin will that affect the strength of the tile as a whole. Will the tile be less susceptible to cracking or not or could the glue become unstuck eventually?

I don't think so. Natural stone needs a stiffer floor than porcelain and I don't see how putting porcelain on the back makes it stronger. Maybe someone else has experience with this concept and can relay that.
