Floor Protection

I tear out a lot of ceramic tile counter tops and have always used cloth tarps to protect the floor.
I'm running into more wood floors all the time and want to switch to something with more cushion. I have a few ideas like carpet runners, but that doesn't sound like the best.

Anyone have something they use that works well?

I tape down Ram Board to keep scaffolding wheels, etc from messing with hardwood floors. Anything heavier may be too cumbersome to use all the time.

Double layer of cardboard under your drops. Needs to be something that you can dispose of afterwards. The pieces of cement and mortar stuck in the material will eventually scratch the floor. Same will happen with carpet runners.

Cardboard would also be my choice - cheap and effective

Sounds like a plan.

I wanted something reusable but it makes sense to toss it after the job.
