Help - loud pop new tile floor
Hoping someone can help. Can't figure this site out to send a new post. Just had new kitchen tile floor installed. They are 12x24 porcelain tile. Occasionally when a certain tile is stepped on it makes a popping noise. Does not happen every time. There is no visible crack to tile or grout. Can anybody help me with a cause for this??

Welcome to the forums David!
Sounds like that tile doesn't have enough thinset under it. The fix would be to cut the grout, remove the tile and re set it. Have you brought this to the attention of your contractor?

Sounds like a tile not stuck down well or the underlayment is popping. Fix well depend on what the noise is.

Sounds like your tile is playing teeter totter on either a high spot in the floor or a piece of debris that is causing it to rock. Could also be that the tiles were put down with mastic and not thinset. Mastic is not rated for tiles of that size as the product can not dry out.
