Kitchen tile, backsplash prep.

New kitchen remodel with green board that will get a tile backsplash under cabinets and around kitchen hood. Due to presentation for the bank to get financing, the walls were painted with one coat of acrylic latex paint. I'm concerned about putting the mastic on the paint due to it potentially peeling.
Any recommendations for prepping the walls?
Maybe clean with a heavy dose of TSP?
Thanks for your time!

Painted walls get tiled all the time. I'd just scuff sand and set your tiles.

TSP residue can cause adhesion issues with paint, I don't know if the same is true for thinset.

putting the mastic
Don't use mastic, a good tile job needs thin set, nothing pre mixed!

Trust me, you think it's easier and it's a huge mess and does not perform as well!
