Entrance door flooring removal
We live in SW Missouri & the attached entrance door flooring configuration seems to be somewhat popular in older homes, like ours. We'd like to replace the flooring & would like some advice on how to go about removing it. Previously, we've replaced floor tiling throughout the house, but this seems rather irregular. Can anyone offer a suggestion or two?

You'd need to chisel the stones loose to remove them. Hard to say what the subfloor will look like once the mud bed is removed. Are you wanting to put in oak to match the rest of the floors?

Thanks for the quick reply. Actually, there's a small gap where the stone was cut at the entrance door threshold. At that gap, the subfloor meets the threshold & is visibly rotting. We get seasonal expansion & contraction with the stone (it seems to act like frost heave), which creates interior door opening/closing issues. Is it safe to assume that the subfloor under the stone is rotten?

So what are you wanting to do, replace with wood, some type of tile?
Ultimately, as mentioned, breaking it up, finding what is going on with subfloor, resolving why subfloor is getting wet (assuming) then reinstalling new flooring of choice!
