Replacing, covering old tile.

I had a toilet leaking, and posted a thread under that sub forum. I have rebuilt the beams that were removed and now have a solid subfloor to re tile and re mount the toilet on its cast iron flange. Since a lot of the ceramic tiles *Under or Near the Toilet base" were either broken before, or during my reconstruction, I really don't want to piece the old ones back together. Lowes sells a "peel and stick" flooring material that could work for me in this small bathroom. If I get the replacement subfloor plywood all level with the old "still good" tiles will there be any problem using the Lowes product to get me by for a year" I just want to cover all the old tiles up and get rid of the 1960's baby blue pastel color etc.
