Question Which faux beam finish do you prefer?

My wife and I are repainting old beams in our living room. Long story involving termites and ripping out beautiful 3/4 inch tongue and groove panels. We left the faux beams and put up trim around them and then comes paint.

Here's the deal. One of us (I won't say which) prefers the trim to be the same color as the beams. The other wants the trim to be white, to match the baseboards.

What we need is your input...which do you think looks better?Name: IMG_20160417_115722392_HDR.jpg

I prefer it to match the beams.

I second that.

The white on the molding at the ceiling is...... ok.
But the white on the molding on the wall..... not.

Agree with the others. We just finished faux beams and stained them to flush to the walls and ceiling and it looked great.

The only way I'd have white up there would be if the whole beam was painted white. The beam needs to be one solid color - white, brown or whatever.

We had thought of stain, but didn't want to have to refinish the beams in place. (My back just wouldn't let me.) We were forced to attach some sort of trim as the removal of the thick old panels left a space between the new drywall land the old beams. The problem now comes in painting them. I'll be frank and point out that I'm the one who chose white for the trim. I really would have preferred them to be ALL white, but she insisted on the dark color. When the trim near the ceiling is also painted dark, it looks rough with an unclean edge due to the rolled textured ceiling. and the color she chose is so dark that it doesn't really look a part of the room at all.

I am listening to your comments however...and thanks. (I'm now considering a dark trim as there is another color wall in the room which may help create a consistency of color choices. I will paint one of the sets of trim and post here this weekend. )

A few more facts; The ceiling is only 8 foot, and there are only 2 beams.
Here are the beams and unpainted trim.
