1978 double wide remodeling questions

Hi all, I was wondering if I can get some advise on my center wall.

I own a 1978 double wide and I'm planning on remodeling my kitchen and front living room. I want to take down the center married wall that divides my kitchen and living room, however I'm not sure if it would be safe to do so or at lease a part of it.

Could I add a header at the center of the roof and brace it on each ends with 2x4 or 4x4???

Welcome to the forums.

No the pro on those units but isn't the roof directly on top of that wall ?

The marriage wall of a double wide is not removable nor modifiable. It is not a matter of a header, but the "tie in" effect that the wall makes to the two halves.

HI Chandler, Is it best to leave it alone??

I have already taken down the door way and the next stud over.. and it seems to be holding.
Can you tell me more about the tie in???

Thanks for your help...

Double wides typically have 2x3 studs on each half of the trailer. When the double wide is assembled on site the floor joists are bolted together at the bottom and then plates are screwed into the 2x3s to snug them together making a "2x6" center stud wall. The bottom portion might not be an issue but without the two sides being pulled together it wouldn't take much for the roof to separate and/or sag.
