How much support does Concrete Backer Board need for ceiling tile install?

I'm installing a new shower and want to install tile on the ceiling of the shower as well. This is new construction, so the ceiling rafters are approx. 16" on center. I'm using the 1/2" Durock CBU and the manufacturer says rafters should be 16" on center and to "place fasteners 6" o.c.". Am I hearing them correctly? For some reason this does not seem like enough support. Am I over-thinking this? After considering the weight of the CBU, the thin set and the ceramic tile, I'm thinking this ceiling might fall in! Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. THANKS.

No, placing the fasteners every 6" along the ceiling joists is fine. Much more fastening than would be on sheetrock of the same dimensions, so rest easy.
