New Drywall and stud spacing question

I have a small 45 degree section I need to drywall between the walls and the ceiling to hide a central vac pipe. Studs are 16" on center and the piece will only be about 15" tall max. Do I need to add horizontal studs between every stud or with the thin piece will I be OK just screwing into the vertical studs every 16". I can do 4 or 8 feet sections in length.

Hope this makes sense. I have a picture but it keeps saying the file is to big

You generally want something that runs continuously and horizontally across the top and bottom edges. (Not just backing in between the individual studs). It ensures your inside corner will be straight as an arrow and that the drywall cannot sag or move, making a stronger corner that is less prone to crack.

your picture may be too large or the resolution is too high. You might try either resizing or set your camera to low resolution and try again.

At this time you can not upload pictures to the forum. As suggested use Photobucket and post the UrL of your image.
