Cracks in bedroom walls
I have long and what appears to be deep cracks in my bedroom walls. Is the problem serious? How can I repair the cracks? Thanks.

I normally just scratch out the crack and fill with a setting compound like Durabond or EasySand. If you use ready mix joint compound you'd need to tape and apply more coats.
Have you checked the foundation below that room?

Is there a chance that the room has been remodeled, specifically was a wall removed? Roughly parallel cracks like that could be because the lath was not lapped properly before the strip was plastered? Is one side higher than the other or does the whole strip project a little below the rest of the lid? If this is the result of a wall removal there should be some evidence on the walls as well. If ypur foundation is sound and if this is the result of a wall removal then I think your best repair is to tape the cracks with paper tape, (not woven mesh) or FibaFuse tape. If this is not because of a wall removal then you should be fine grooving out the crack and repairing it with setting joint compound as marksr suggests.
