Wood paneling for ceiling
I want to insulate the ceiling of a bedroom with rigid insulation. I don't want to add all of the weight that comes with drywall so I'm thinking about finishing with thin wood paneling or something. I would probably leave the rafters exposed, installing the paneling just between each rafter. I just want something considerably LIGHTER than 1/2" drywall. What would you recommend?

The boards in the pic are likely 3/4" thick. Most if not all paneling is too thin/flimsy to be supported on a ceiling without sagging.
What exactly is your concern with the weight of drywall?

I assume that is a flat roof? Usually when the beams are 32" on center they are structural, and so is the ceiling. The ceiling you see is the roof decking and those boards are 1 1/2" thick... usually v-groove t&g 2x6. I would hate to ruin the look of the ceiling.
Those 4x6 rafters are probably already way overspanned. How long are they? Or maybe you have no snow load where you live.

The roof has a slight tilt. It is not flat, otherwise the water would not drain off of it. Yes it's tongue and groove 2 X 6's. There is no attic. I would have to re-roof in order to add insulation above.
1/2" drywall weighs a lot. I hate to add so much weight.
There are no boards in this pic. I have not installed any wood paneling yet.
