Angry Help!!!!!

Ok I hope I get some ideas. I am kinda new to DIY. I am redoing my living room & dining room My problem is insulation right now I have 1/2 inch boards on my walls,so the only option I have is foam board for insulation that only has a r value of 3. Should I take them down and put up 2x4 and use a proper insulation??
I live in a brick row home end unit, so the left side of my house there is nothing. Just wondering if it would be beneficial to put up 2x4 or is there a really good 1/2 inch insulation that I don't know about? Thanks in advance ohh one more thing I live in baltimore where the recommended r value is 38, and there was no insulation the wall when I took it down.

Welcome to the forums!

A stud wall in front of the brick will allow you better insulation.
How is your electric run on that wall?

Is this double brick with the electric wires run in the void between the 2 rows of brick? about how old is the bldg?

You'd frame out around the windows, would give you a deeper window stool/seat.
